Abstract
Authors have experienced a case of gastric duplication and the case is reported in this paper with a review of the literature.
A 12 years old Korean female visited our hospital on 25th, April 1973, with intermittent abdominal pain and vomiting for about 3 years. Upper G-I series was performed. Long tubular duplicated loop was noted, which was opened at duodenal cap and run along the greater curvature of stomach to cardiac portion with end in blind loop.
In the begining portion of duodenal opening of duplicated loop revealed small peptic ulcer. Coincidental finding of superior mesenteric artery syndrome was noted in the main duodenal loop. Surgical resection of distal half of duplicated loop as well as subtotal gastrectomy, resection of septum between remnant main stomach to remaining duplicated loop, gastro-duodenostomy, vagotomy and side-to-side duodeno-jejunostomy were performed.
The biopsy taken on duplicated loop revealed appearance of gastric mucosa.
